To improve access to healthcare in rural areas, Senegal is seeking to strengthen its medical infrastructure. The government therefore decided to create a new hospital in the village of Yadjine, in the Tivaouane region, an area undergoing significant social and economic development.
For the creation of a 300-bed hospital, the Senegalese government awarded Ellipse Projects with the contract to integrate and deliver the various phases of the project: studies, design, construction, supply, installation and commissioning.
As background, a fire that broke out at the previous Tivaouane hospital on 26 May, 2022 caused the deaths of 11 new-born babies. It was therefore decided to provide the hospital with a neonatal unit with state-of-the-art equipment, in addition to its other services.
As well as improving healthcare provision for local people, the hospital construction project will also benefit the economy of Yadjine and the surrounding area. Various service activities are developing in the wake of the project, including accommodation, transport, catering and construction service providers.
