The context

Following a vast reform of its healthcare system, the Senegalese government has launched an extensive modernisation programme for its judicial infrastructure, aiming to build or renovate a total of 69 buildings. This project also includes the construction of a hospital in the north-east of the country.

The project

After being responsible for delivering four hospitals in 2021, the Senegalese government entered a public-private partnership (PPP) with Ellipse Projects:

Studies, design, construction, sourcing and installation of equipment, and commissioning of 69 court buildings, including the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice, Supreme Court and Constitutional Council; Directorate of Correctional Education and Social Protection (DESPS) buildings; Prison Administration Directorate (DAP) buildings; and courthouses, tribunals and prisons around the country.
Studies, design, construction, sourcing and installation of equipment, and commissioning of a 150-bed hospital in Ourossogui, in northeast Senegal.

All the above developments are being financed as a public-private partnership.

The benefits

Along with the social benefits of increasing court and healthcare infrastructure, these major renovation and construction projects will also create thousands of jobs for Senegalese workers.
